I-5/SR-16 EB Nalley Valley

Demolition two 4-lane viaduct bridges that spanned nearly ¼ of a mile and cut through the heart of the Nalley Valley area of Tacoma.

The viaduct was constructed of heavily reinforced concrete with massive “tetrapod” pillars supporting the 60’ tall roadway.  The work included the removal of various ancillary bridges and retaining walls leading up to the viaduct. The work created over 25,000 tons of concrete that was hauled to our Waller Road Pit for recycling.

Equipment Utilized: Volvo 480 w/90’ hi-reach boom, Komatsu 300 with 70’ hi-reach boom, Cat 365 with 100’ hi-reach boom, and various support excavators equipped with hammers, shears and universal processors.
